Satyaprem Ki Katha (lit. transl. Tale of True Love) is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film about a troubled marriage, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani as the titular protagonists. The supporting cast include Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak, Siddharth Randeria, Anuradha Patel and Rajpal Yadav. It is directed by Sameer Vidwans and jointly produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Namah Pictures.
The film was announced in June 2021. Principal photography commenced in September 2022 and wrapped up in April 2023. The film was theatrically released on 29 June 2023 to positive reviews from critics. It has grossed ₹117.65 crore (US$15 million) worldwide to rank as the seventh highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.

The story revolves around Satyaprem by Kartik Aaryan, a carefree young man desiring to shed his bachelorhood. With limited resources and prospects, his aim is to win the heart of Katha by Kiara Advani, the daughter of a wealthy snacks shop owner. Unfortunately, she remains unaware of his existence and is involved with someone from a more affluent background. The first half of the film presents itself in a light-hearted and aimless manner, with repetitive comedic elements that fail to engage the audience. However, after a sudden turn of events, Katha attempts to take her own life, leading to an unexpected twist in the narrative. Her parents, driven by guilt, offer her hand in marriage to Satyaprem. Despite Katha's reluctance, her father manipulates her into agreeing by threatening self-harm. The film briefly delves into Aaryan-esque comedy, with Katha refusing to share the same bed due to Satyaprem's loud snoring. Nevertheless, another bombshell is dropped when Katha reveals her asexuality, leaving the audience in shock. As the film progresses, Satyaprem showcases unwavering support for his wife, becoming a compassionate and understanding partner. However, during their attempted intimacy, Katha experiences a sudden emotional breakdown, revealing that she was raped in her past relationship. This revelation propels the film into its message-driven phase. Satyaprem takes charge, becomes the advocate for justice, and encourages his wife to press charges against her abuser.

Development
The film was officially announced with a motion poster on 23 June 2021 by Sajid Nadiadwala, to be directed by Sameer Vidwans and starring Kartik Aaryan. The title was originally slated to be Satyanarayan Ki Katha. It was later renamed Satyaprem Ki Katha due to controversy.
Casting
Kartik Aaryan was chosen to play the lead, in his first collaboration with Sajid Nadiadwala. It was later reported that Sharvari Wagh and Ananya Panday was approached but both of them rejected. Later Kiara Advani is cast opposite Aaryan, in their second film after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). Her inclusion in the film was confirmed in July 2022.

Filming
The film went on floors on 3 September 2022 in Mumbai and the first schedule ended on 6 October. In November 2022, the production moved to Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The final schedule began on 31 March 2023 in Kashmir. In April 2023, Advani wrapped up shoot.
The film's music is composed by Meet Bros, Anjjan, Tanishk Bagchi, Manan Bhardwaj, Payal Dev and Rochak Kohli. Lyrics are written by Kumaar, A. M. Turaz, Tanishk Bagchi, Vayu, Manan Bhardwaj and Gurpreet Saini.
The first single titled "Naseeb Se" was released on 27 May 2023. The second single titled "Aaj Ke Baad" was released on 10 June 2023. The third single titled "Gujju Pataka" was released on 16 June 2023. The fourth single, titled "Sun Sajni," was released on June 21, 2023. The fifth single titled "Pasoori Nu" was released on 26 June 2023.
